II - 2 Data Interface
The 200S data interface includes the RS-232 serial port. The serial port
supports both bi-directional data communications which allows data to
be exported to, or imported from an external device. Also, external
operations via the data interface.
Data which can be exported from the 200S to an external serial device
includes:
Job, and Installation configuration parameters.
Non-linear error compensation tables.
Measured value output (display values, or probing functions).
Data which can be imported into 200S from an external device
includes:
Remote key commands from an external device
Job, and installation configuration parameters
Non-linear error compensation tables
For operations that support data transfer, an IMPORT/EXPORT soft
key is available. See "Import/Export" on page 18.
To export, or import data between the 200S and a personal computer,
the PC can use a common terminal communications software such as
Hyperterminal. This software processes the data being sent, or
received over the serial cable link. All data transferred between the
200S, and the PC is in ASCII text format.
To export data from the 200S to a PC, the PC must first be made ready
to receive the data to save it to a file. Setup the terminal
communication program to capture ASCII text data from the COM port
to a file on the PC. After the PC is ready to receive, start the data
transfer by pressing the 200S IMPORT/EXPORT soft key.
To import data into the 200S from a PC, the 200S must first be made
ready to receive the data.
8 Press the 200S IMPORT/EXPORT soft key.
8 After the 200S is ready, setup the terminal communications
program on the PC to send the desired file in ASCII text format.
The 200S does not support communication protocols such
as Kermit or Xmodem.
